Terms of Service
Last updated: March 2026
1. Service Description
Japan Driver's License Translation Center (JDLTC) provides a driver's license translation service for visitors to Japan from eligible countries (Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Monaco, and Taiwan). Our service processes the official translation required to legally drive in Japan.
2. Eligible Countries
Our translation service is available only for driver's licenses issued by the following countries: Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Monaco, and Taiwan. These are the countries whose licenses require a Japanese translation rather than an International Driving Permit.
3. Processing Time
Standard processing takes 3–5 business days from the date of application submission and payment confirmation. Processing times may vary during peak travel seasons.
4. Delivery
Your completed translation will be delivered as a PDF document to the email address provided during application. It is your responsibility to print the document in color before using it in Japan.
5. Requirements
- Your driver's license must be valid (not expired) at the time of application
- You must provide clear, legible photos of both sides of your license
- The translation must be carried together with your original license at all times while driving in Japan
- You must print the translation in color
6. Payment and Pricing
All payments are processed securely through Stripe. Prices are displayed in the currency determined by your region. Payment is required before processing begins.
7. Refund Policy
- Before processing begins: Full refund available
- After processing has started: No refund, as the translation work has begun
- Rejected applications: Full refund if your application cannot be processed (e.g., ineligible country, unreadable license images)
8. Validity
The translation is valid for 1 year from your date of entry into Japan. If you leave Japan and re-enter, the 1-year validity period resets from your new entry date.
9. Disclaimer
While we facilitate the translation process, JDLTC is not responsible for:
- Changes in Japanese driving regulations
- Traffic violations or accidents while driving in Japan
- Loss or damage to the printed translation document
